New Moon in Virgo, August 30, 2019

When the moon is in Virgo, we feel whole and restored  by serving others. This is a good time to reflect on how you envision your service to others in the big picture as well as in day-to-day life. What kind of helpfulness do you want to be known for? How are you manifesting this for people in your family, your community, and your society? Is there a service you'd like to be able to provide -- massage? midwifery? medicine? Perhaps farming or hospitality is more your thing?

Mars swoops in beside the new moon to lend drive and vigor to plans, so if you're on a new path or contemplating one, you could get a boost of energy to go with some clarity of direction.

Write about possibilities in your moon journal and reflect on what your unique offering is or could be. Reflect on how being of service, no matter how small an act, can bring about change in the world. You probably feel like making lists (Virgo) and acting on them (Mars).

Make a note in your moon journal to review this new moon entry when the full moon is in Virgo, March 9, 2020.

Ritual
Sit and open your heart to the universe.
Meditate: you are part of the healing energy that is available everyday, for yourself and for others. The Universe loves you and is working through you. The healing you see in others is reflected back into your own life from all directions.

One of my favorite meditations is particularly well-suited to the abundance of Virgo energy this month: Lokah samastah sukino bhavantu. This translates as
"May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute to that happiness and freedom for all."
Feel free to sing this prayer any time, but especially during your ritual or meditation in late August.
Namaste.
